Lameque is a small community, belonging to Gloucester County, of about one and a half thousand permanent residents. Lameque is situated in the north eastern corner of the province, on an island of the same name, at the edge of the Acadian Peninsula. The majority of the residents in Lameque are of French descent. Fishing is the largest industry on Lameque Island. Lameque is just 7.5 km (4.7 mi.) northeast of Shippagan.

Lameque is home to the Ecological Park of the Acadian Peninsula, which delves into the local wildlife, via an observation tower, an interpretive trail, an arboretum and lengthy foot-bridge. Pigeon Hill Beach is also a great place to relax in the sun, play water sports, hike, swim and bird watch. Lameque also hosts a Peat Moss Festival and a Baroque music festival. Enjoy local seafood, shopping and plenty of sight seeing.

Lameque accommodations include bed and breakfasts, cottages and inns.
