The village of Alma stands at the entrance to Fundy National Park. The park features some of the best remaining wilderness in New Brunswick as well as the highest tidal fluctuation in the world. Alma is host to local fisherman and many local tourists, although the village was originally devoted to ship building and lumber export. To keep up with the busy season, Alma has two general stores, gift shops, a bake shop, restaurants, motels, a hotel, and a bed and breakfast.
Alma has a lovely beach that has exceptional beach combing. With the world's highest tidal fluctuation, Alma beach is a fascinating place to walk when the tide is out. The upper Salmon River runs up and down the highland to grassland area surrounding Alma. This river is great for kayaking and canoeing but only during high tide. The village of Alma is a great place to stay, dine and stock up on supplies before you enter Fundy National Park.
Alma New Brunswick accommodations include hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds.
