Shediac is positioned in Westmorland County, on the shores of the Northumberland Strait in Shediac Bay. Shediac prides itself on being the "Lobster Capital of the World," a town slogan started to increase the awareness of the community and further promote its giant lobster, the largest statue of its kind in the world. Shediac is a bilingual community, home to many Francophone citizens. Before Shediac became inhabited by Europeans, the Mi'kmaq were the first residents of the land, titling it Es-ed-ei-ik. It is no surprise that the main industries in Shediac are lobster fishing and tourism. Shediac is just 26 km (16.2 mi.) northeast of Moncton.

The Sandspit Amusement Park in Shediac is home to many exciting rides for the whole family. As well, the Parlee Beach Provincial Park is where you'll find the warmest waters in the province, beautiful picnic areas, a restaurant and so much more. A nature park in Shediac features a plethora of walking trails, plenty of wildlife and more picnic areas. Shediac is home to art galleries, antique stores, a historical house (built in 1826) and museums. Shediac is a beautiful slice of land for all kinds of people.

Shediac accommodations include bed and breakfasts, inns, motels, cottages and campgrounds.
