Rothesay is located near the southern shoreline of New Brunswick, just minutes from Saint John. As well, Rothesay belongs to Kings County. The first known residents of the land at Rothesay were the Maliseet and the Mi'kmaq. After the construction of the European and North American Railway in 1853, shipbuilding would become a major industry here. Rothesay, the community name, came from an observation by the Prince of Wales, who visited the land in 1860. He, King Edward VII, remarked that the land reminded him of Rothesay, Scotland and thus, the name was formed in honour of him. Rothesay is 17.4 km (10.8 mi.) northeast of Saint John.

Rothesay is home to many scenic, beautiful beaches and parks. The Kennebecasis Park Beach allows visitors a chance to relax by the water and the river banks. Rothesay Common is another wonderful park, home to picnicking, sports and events. As well, Jordan Miller Beach is home to a wide variety of animals, plants, activities and wonderful sights. Enjoy a Christian Retreat House perched along the Kennebecasis River. As well, a craft festival, a boat festival, numerous restaurants and plenty of shopping all exist in Rothesay.
