Richibucto is a small community, situated along the shores of the Northumberland Strait on the east coast of New Brunswick. Richibucto is also a member of Kent County. The town name comes from a Mi'kmaq term that means "river of fire," which came to be because of beautiful sunsets that occur here. Richibucto was a thriving shipbuilding community in the 1800s, and consisted of the third largest port in the province. Richibucto is largely a fishing community today and also enjoys success in the tourism industry. Richibucto is 73.7 km (45.8 mi.) north of Moncton.
