Plaster Rock is located in the north eastern quarter of New Brunswick and belongs to Victoria County, along the Tobique River. The first settler to arrive here was Hezekiah Day, in 1881, along with his two brothers. Plaster Rock is named after a hill on the outskirts of the community that is compiled of plaster rock. Plaster Rock is the first and only name given to this relatively young community. The first industries in Plaster Rock were farming, agriculture and lumbering. Plaster Rock is located 213 km (132.4 mi.) northwest of Fredericton.

Plaster Rock is home to the Plaster Rock Museum and Information Centre, which contains a wide variety of exhibits regarding the past industries in the community, as well as displays, artefacts and intriguing facts. Plaster Rock is also home to festivals, live music, canoeing and kayaking, walking trails, swimming, fishing, cycling, a golf course, hunting and plenty of glorious scenery.
