McAdam is positioned in the south western corner of New Brunswick, as part of York County. McAdam was initially known as City Camp, based on the fact that many lumber related camps where set up in the area during its inception. A railway was installed here in McAdam in 1900, which brought much activity and prosperity to the community for a while, until McAdam's decline in the early 1900s, which was induced by a lack of productivity on behalf of the railway. McAdam is situated 66.9 km (41.6 mi.) from Fredericton.
McAdam is home to McAdam Station, a National Historic Site, known for its unique beauty and architecture. The building acts as a museum today, offering insight into its history. McAdam is home to excellent restaurants, beautiful scenery, amazing wildlife, pretty waterside sunsets and sunrises. As well, enjoy hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, paddle-boating, biking and even ATV down the many local trails.
