Harvey is a small community that can be found in York County, in the south western corner of the province. Harvey is located where Highway 636 and Route 3 intersect. The first town name here was once Harvey Settlement, which later changed to Harvey Station, after the railway, and finally, to just Harvey. Harvey was founded in the early 1800s; years later in 1869, a new railway brought much life to the Harvey, until its station was ultimately destroyed in 1962, after its productivity had ran dry. The train later ran again for a while in the later eighties and early nineties until it closed again in 1994. Harvey is a small tourism community, situated 50.8 km (31.6 mi.) southwest of Fredericton.
Harvey is in the midst of many different surrounding lakes, all of which offer various activities, such as swimming, picnicking, relaxing in the sand at the beach, boating, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and absorbing as much of the beautiful scenery as possible. Harvey hosts annual fairs and festivals, consists of heritage buildings and a giant fiddle, which commemorates local fiddler, Don Messer.
Harvey accommodations include bed and breakfasts, cottages and campgrounds.
