Hampton is positioned in the southern region of New Brunswick, a total of 38.1 km (23.7 mi.) northeast of Saint John, traveling on Highway 1. United Empire Loyalists originally founded Hampton in 1783. As well, Hampton is situated in Kings County, acting as the shire town for its county. The Kennebecasis River extends inland from the Bay of Fundy, acting as a means of transportation for boats. Hampton is a suburb of Saint John.
Along a riverbank rests Hampton, but its beauty lies not just in its surrounding nature, but in its historic buildings, such as the Hapton Gaol, which was constructed in 1870 and is on display in summer months. The County Museum delves into local history via genealogy facts, displays and artefacts. The Hampton Marsh is a plethora of flora and fauna mixed into a scenic floodplain, as visitors can kayak, canoe and experience the natural beauty there. Hampton is also home to a footbridge, 328 ft (100 m) in length and a covered bridge that is 181 ft (55.2 m) in length. Enjoy golfing, shopping, fine-dining and so much more while staying in Hampton.
