Canterbury, home to only a few hundred permanent residents, is located in York County in the mid-west portion of New Brunswick, a short drive from the United States border. Up until the 1990s, Canterbury was home to a fully functional railway station that now acts solely as a tourism and recreational facility. Canterbury was incorporated in the 1970s, but today, due to the closed railway, the village suffers on the industrial front.

Canterbury is 88 km (54.7 mi.) west of Fredericton, traveling mostly on Highway 2. Canterbury is home to beautiful lakes and a glorious country side. Enjoy fishing, kayaking and/or simply relaxing by the water. Canterbury is a prime location for hunters as well, as bears, deer, moose and birds all inhabit the forests around Canterbury. Come and stay in or around Canterbury during Canada Day, to be part of a full day of festivities for the entire family. Beautiful by nature, Canterbury is a great place to unwind and take in the wilderness at its finest.

Canterbury accommodations include cottages and bed and breakfasts.
