St. Stephen can be found on the south western corner of the province of New Brunswick, along the shores of the St. Croix River right by the United States Border. St. Stephen was first discovered in the early part of the 17th century when Samuel de Champlain arrived from France. In the 1800s, shipbuilding was a key industry here, as well as the lumber, textile and chocolate industries.

St. Stephen is 95.3 km (59.2 mi.) east of Saint John. St. Stephen is home to many chocolate enthusiasts and even holds an annual festival celebrating the delicious treat.
