Aulac is on the Aulac Ridge, approximately 2 km (1.2 mi.) west of the Missaguash River, forming part of the inter-provincial boundary with Nova Scotia. The Ridge has a wonderful view of the Missaguash River that can't be missed. Aulac is approximately 40 km (25 mi.) from Moncton, making it an easy lunch stop for visitors! Aulac was important for French military forces during the 1700s because of its close location to the Nova Scotia border.

In the 20th Century, there were several roads that past over the Aulac Ridge including the Trans-Canada Highway project. Several businesses, a gas station, and a motel make Aulac Ridge a quaint town to visit. There is also a very popular German Restaurant, Schnitzel Haus that is frequented by locals and visitors.
