Shippagan is a small community situated on the north eastern corner of New Brunswick, along the shores of the Acadian Peninsula. Shippigan was founded in 1790 by the Duguay's, a francophone family from Quebec. Shippigan is also home to the University of Moncton and the New Brunswick Community College. As well, a notable resident of Shippagan was Luc Bourdon, a former Vancouver Canuck NHL player who died in 2008 in a motorcycle accident.

Shippagan is 118 km (73.3 mi.) northeast of Bathurst. Shippagan is home to a historical society, a museum, a nineteenth century lighthouse and an aquarium and marine centre. With a deep Acadian culture, it is no surprise that Shippagan is home to a large number of festivals and celebrations that pay homage to their history and culture. Shippagan is home to excellent local seafood restaurants, numerous outdoor activities and vast amounts of glorious natural beauty.

Shippagan accommodations include bed and breakfasts, motels and campgrounds.
